Seven Characteristics of a Flourishing Disciple

We’re passionate about your development as a flourishing disciple of Jesus. As you grow in your faith, all of these characteristics will be evident in your life.


We believe that flourishing disciples demonstrate a love for God by:



  • Loving the Word

    Disciples spend time in God's presence through Scripture reading. The Word prompts our prayers, inspires our worship, and guides our daily lives.


    Modeled by:

    • Reading the Bible at least four times per week.

    • Consistent worship participation.

    • A commitment to daily prayer.

  • Loving His Authority

    Disciples grow to love what Jesus loves, value what He values, and hate what He hates. They submit to God's authority and obey what His Word teaches out of a desire to conform to Christ's image.

    • A growing desire to follow Jesus' commands.

    • A growing desire to eradicate idols and distractions.

    • Eternal-focused living that trusts God above self.

  • Loving Our Neighbor

    Disciples love one another as Christ loves His church and love their neighbors as themselves. This selfless love expresses itself practically in forgiveness and service, even to their enemies.

    • Cultivates relationships with those who are far from God.

    • Responding to others with love and grace.

    • Forgiving others when they fail.

  • Loving the Church

    Disciples love other disciples and embrace Biblical community through the local church. Their love for other believers extends to the global body of Christ.

    • Commitment to Christian community and accountability.

  • Loving in Humility

    Following the example of Jesus, disciples cultivate humility through submission to God the Father. Disciples recognize their daily need for grace, direction, and provision that only God can provide.

    • Admitting our sins and weaknesses.

  • Loving to Give
